The history of this beautiful freezer tuna purse seiner looks a bit confusing: owned by D.Benjamín Fernández Granda, Director Técnico de SOMATHON SA(Société Marocaine de Pêche et de Conserve du Thon), [i]Germon[/i] is a spanish-owned vessel -maybe a basque tuna seiner as I distinguish on the wheelhouse the Ikuriña). Launched in november 1979 by Construcciones Navales Freire SA from Vigo(Galicia - Spain), she has has been equipped there with a 76.8m long hull, as well as a 4401hp engine. I think she has been exported in order to Morocco to go on exploiting the same fishing banks, where also operates the company's freezer trawlers [i]Germon II[/i], [i]Germon III[/i], [i]Germon IV[/i] as well as freezer shellfish fishing vessels [i]Germon V[/i] (former [i]Cabo Blanco[/i]),[i]Germon VI[/i](former [i]Cabo Noun[/i] and [i]Cabo Dra[/i]), [i]Germon VII[/i](former [i]Cabo Ghir[/i]) and [i]Germon VIII[/i](former [i]Cabo Negro[/i]).
