Description:
The "Marina" is the oldest ship on the
mediterranean sea. The carferry is build
in 1936 by Verft&Flydedok as "Kronprinsessan
Ingrid". In 1945 with that ship were saved
6566 refugees from Danmark to Swedem. Since
1946 the ship was in service on the line
Göteborg and Frederikshaven. 1950 the ship
was extended 8 meters by the wharf
Burmeister&Wain. And 1955 bought A/B Gotland
the ship and renamed it in "Christoffer Pohlen".
1963 the new owner "Expresslinijen & Co
operated the carferry under the
name "Marina" between Stockholm and
Marienhamn. The shipping company "Losinjska
Plovidba" bought the ship on 12h Nov. 1969.
Since 1971 the ship is on service between
the croatian seaports Pula, Mali Losinj and
Zadar. In 1978 the carferry got with the
island of Silba a new destination. At the
time of the yugoslav civil "Marina" saved
annother time in her history refugees, like
women and children from Dubrovnik, Split and
Zadar. Two times in her long history was these
ship a sign of humanity. This year celebrates
the fine elder lady of the seas with destiny
her 70. birthday!
