Built 1937 by Sir James Laing & Sons, Deptford Yard, Sunderland. Yard no: 716.
Main engine: triple-expansion steam reciprocating by George Clark (1936) Ltd, Sunderland. Output: 1,660 ihp. Speed 11 knots
Built as BARON ELPHINSTONE for H Hogarth & Co Ltd, Glasgow (port of registry Ardrossan).
1959: sold/renamed ARISTIDES (as photo)
When photographed on 24th March, 1968, Aristides had been forced to anchor off Gravesend after suffering a serious engine breakdown while outward bound from the port of London. She was, however, duly repaired and continued in service until 1971, when she went to breakers in Santander, Spain.
