B.Clark, you may notice that lately the bastions re slowly being 'renovated' involving erecting a lot of scaffolding so as to scrape and change the stonework where has deteriorated throughout the centuries, Fort St.Angelo is now complete and the colour of the stones minus the weeds etc. is now more evident in contrast with the blue of the sky and surrounding sea. All the remaining miles of bastions will be treated thus. The fort will host some meetings of the forthcoming CHOGM meet.
regards and thanks.

Emmanuel, you have hit it right on the nose, the background has hardly changed since I was first in Malta in the early 70's. I liked it then and it hasn't changed so I still like it.

Hope that this is not the last view of the LOUIS AURA in our harbour, as I have heard that this venerable 47 year old vessel is being withdrawn...I wonder what is her future?...another owner or the breakers yard. regards.

Hi B.Clark regarding the background, ships have changed throughout the centuries from galleys and galleons to cruisers and cruise liners but the magnificent bastions encircling the harbour stay the same and even being now given a facelift. Thank you for the positive comment.Regards

Hi Jadran...luck does play a part , but mostly it is perseverance and daily at that.First thing in the morning I look up the schedule of shipping to or out of Valletta harbour ,then off for a morning stint at Senglea Point meeting friends for a cup of coffee and photographing and debating ships nostalgia. And that is mostly on a daily basis. ,rain or shine. Regards and thanks dear friend.

Times are indeed changing regarding the looks and taste. I for myself find the late sixties-ships to be the nicest.

As I recall, many of our more-conservative cruise-ship aficionados slammed the futuristic, streamlined design of these Kloster ships when they first appeared. A bit like today with the likes of the NCL giants!

Emmanuel,, you have much luck (your location !! ) to witness such 'oldie' beauties still in service ............
I and the rest of the site members can only envy you for that !
