Launched: 3/4/1973 and completed: 30/6/1973 as a RO/RO Ferry for service between Tokyo and Kushiro (Hokkaido) with 300 passengers.
Originally 8,800 gt and 3,423 dwt
165.5m oa, 155.0m pp and 24.4m beam.
Original power source: 2 x 16-cyl Hitachi/Sulzer diesels producing 18,800 bhp.
Built by: Naikai Zosen Corporation, Setoda Shiyard, Onimichi, Japan.
1973 - "MASHU" - Kinkai Yusen KK, Tokyo, Japan
1977 - converted to a passenger/RO/RO ferry by Naikai at Setoda. New gross tonnage 6,361 gt.
New machinery: 2 x 9-cyl Pielstick/Nippon diesels producing 20,800 bhp.
New capacity: 679 passengers, 152 cabins, and 250 cars.
1977 - "GARYOUNIS" - General National Maritime Transport Co., Benghazi, Libya for services between Libya and France.
4/2000 - laid up at Valletta,as above.
2004 - "DUBAI COAST 1" - Golden Flag Marine Management, Portsmouth, Dominica.
21/9/2004 - broken up at Alang Island.
