I was Second Mate on this ship in 1994 when she was operated by Farrell Lines. Bath Iron Works built the bridge and deck officers' accommodations in the bow to act as a breakwater to protect the cargo. It was a pretty rough ride. There was a railing built around the helmsman's position to keep him in place during heavy weather. During one voyage the bridge windows were knocked out, and after that they used to carry wooden blanks in the wheelhouse to plug up the windows in case the glass ever got knocked out again.
