Description:

SALAH ALDEEN was the last of the series of Kuwait class large general cargo ships built on the Clyde at the Govan and Scotstoun yards between 1974 and 1978.
SALAH ALDEEN came from Govan Shipbuilders and this I took in July 1978 as she passed under Erskine Bridge outbound on her maiden voyage.
Apart from charter name changes, she kept her original name and was broken up in 2003 at Alang.
Other members of the class were built under licence by Hyundai in Korea and like their Clyde sisters have succumbed to the breakers' torch.
