Interestingly enough the ship was twice in a collision with the American Transhawaii. The first time was September 1972 12 miles east of Cape Hatteras. Tweleve years later on March 21 1984, when she was named Rio Cauca the Transhawaii again collided with the ship, again near Cape Hatteras, but this time there was one casualty.
