WELCOME TO SHIPSPOTTING.COM
Description:
In 1978 a Philippine company thought of a clever and cheap way to enter the container trades. They bought four Norwegian OBOs (Three panamaxes and one larger ship) to convert them into conbulkers.
The four ships all carried the prefix ASEAN but their intended role they hardly fullfilled. All four were broken up during the autumn of 1985, by the National Steel Corp, at Iligan.
Here is the panamax obo ASEAN LIBERTy, originally the HAVMOY (Meier) adn later on BRALI (Gill-Johannesen)She is offloading grain at the GEM terminal Europoort. Although the view is somewhat obstructed, I hope it can stay on the site.
