There was a fleet of these boats in service from Toronto to the Niagara River, on Lake Ontario running a while ago. It was capable of travelling in some relatively heavy seas. My kids and I made a return crossing. There were outside decks available midships and at the stern. Some joker flicked his cigrarette but out and it blew back and hit my daughter in the eye. I hope they enjoyed that smoke!!!

Not so bad these Russian built hydrofoils. In 1980 I travelled with one from Aegina to Piraeus and back. It was not expensive and a very enjoyable trip.
