Prince Line's 1956 Harland & Wolff, Glasgow, built SOUTHERN PRINCE is seen at Avonmouth, it is thought on 25th September 1966, double berthed alongside an East German vessel on X berth.
Between 1958 and 1960 she had been renamed MEDIC for service with Shaw, Savill and Albion.

I checked the vessels other fotos and what called my attention are the huge cargohold vents, the skyhigh galley chimney and that the crewquarters are amidship and not at the stern. Quite unusual for a vessel of her builtyear. Someone in the owners office must have had quite advanced ideas... Some shipping companies bulit ships with crewquarters aft until the early sixties.
