Good memory from the shoebox, Willem.
Now that the principle ship is identified (CHEFOO was IMO 5069295), might you consider moving to "General cargo ships built 1950-1959 (Over 3000gt)"? It would then link nicely with a few other images of this elegant ship.

The China Nav. ship in the foreground is the Chefoo and the Macau ferry alongside blowing off steam is the Fatshan. Chefoo was the last of CNCo's four C Class and was completed by Taikoo Dockyard in 1958. Converted to side-loading in 1970 and renamed Island Chief, 1978 sold Straits Shipping, renamed Straits Hope, 1992 broken up in India. Fatshan was also built by Taikoo Dockyard for China Navigation, being delivered in 1933 for Hong Kong - Canton service. Seized by Japan 1941, renamed Koto Maru, reverted to Fatshan 1945. 1950 transferred to Hong Kong - Macau service and sold to Man On S.N.Co., in 1951, same service. 18 August 1971 sank near Lantao Island during Typhoon Rose, 70 lives lost.
