Description:
Former flagship of the Portuguese cod fishing fleet in the '50s and '60s, vessel 'Polynesia' (then named 'Argus') is presently moored at Aveiro, awaiting renovation. The passing of time can be seen everywhere, and the vessel structure is deteriorating rapidly.
This vessel was the main star of the film shot in 1950 by Alan Villiers, an Australian maritime reporter for the National Geographic, titled 'The Argus Campaign'. A book under the same name was also published.
