Information for this tug is incorrect. There were 4 tugs named PETER F. GELLATLY owned by the Gellatly Petroleum and Towing Corp., later in 1999 to become Gellatly and Criscione Services Corp. Starting with the newest and last tug built with this name, and pictured in this post as LONG ISLAND. She was built in 2008, by Thoma-Sea Boatbuilders of Houma, La. brand new for Gellatly & Criscione Services Corp. In 2009, she was chartered to the Vane Bros., Co., Baltimore, Md., and acquired by Vane in 2012 keeping the name PETER F. GELLATLY. In 2015, she was renamed LONG ISLAND. The other tugs named PETER F. GELLATLY, & owned by Gellatly Petroleum Transportation were: PETER F. GELLATLY built 1951 by the Jakobson Shipyard, Oyster Bay, N.Y., ex- LESTER J. GILLEN. The next was built in 1968, by Robert M. Boyham and Sons of Violet, Louisiana, as the MUSTANG. She was later sold and renamed, RUSTY VENTURE, and then O'BRIAN. After Gellatly owned her, she was acquired by Back River Towing of Norfolk, Va., & renamed SANDY POINT. The final tug to bear this name was built in 1978, by Terrebonne Shipbuilders of Houma, Louisiana as the ITCO XVII for the Independent Towing Co. She was later sold to become BILL GRANTHAM, BASIN PRIDE, & PETER F. GELLATLY. Gellatly finally sold her to T & D Towing of Morgan City, La., where she was renamed as the MR. DEAN. I hope that this information clears up your confusion.
