Description:

I've decided to give this crude oil tanker under construction at Daewoo shipyard the IMO number coming after the one of "Maran Athena", so I'm not 100% sure.

But this is not important.

You see, there are light blue ship blocks on the left of the photo, and I think you know what it means: start of another series of super-big container ships for Maersk, 11 ships in total, with the capacity of 19,630 TEU each, next generation Triple E's...

Thanks for your comments, Foldager and Frank!

When reading the news about Maersk not planning to order any new tonnage, I had to check on the status of this series, whose eventual cancellation would have sent shock waves throughout the Korean ship building...
Of course, this order was still on, as it was agreed last year or so.
Apparently, Maersk is indeed happy with the performance of "Triple E" ships; but it's interesting that the original order for them was for 30 ships (back in 2011), with the last batch of 10 cancelled due to market conditions. I don't believe that the market has improved at all since then but, here we are, another 11 big Maersk ships to arrive by the end of the next year...

Cheers

Vlad

Nice exclusive!!!. If you had not mentioned the blue building blocks I wonder would anybody have noticed? I was focused too much on the tanker until I read your your comment. I thought that they had been cancelled but it appears not. I can only assume that Mearsk are pleased with the performance of the triple E class??

Congratulation, - what a catch!

I didn't believe we (=you) would see any (LEGO)blocks before next year...

I am looking very much forward to see how it will look, - will we again have to rudders :) ?
