Description:
Brocklebank's 1960 Wm.Hamilton (Port Glasgow) built MATHURA is seen passing Portishead, outbound from Avonmouth, exactly fifty years ago today, on 4th March 1967.
As MATHURA had arrived at Calcutta on 31st December 1966 to load cargo for London, Manchester and Liverpool, her call at Avonmouth may have been a diversion from London. She subsequently sailed from Liverpool on 20th March 1967 bound for Calcutta.
Later: 1972 EURYTION - 77 ALWAHA
On a voyage from Kuwait to Turkey she put back to Aden on 23.8.77 with boiler trouble and a fire in the engine room. Towed to Karachi by the tug IRISHMAN, she anchored off the port on 29.10.78 and suffered a collision in December. She arrived at Gadani Beach on 15.3.79 but demolition did not commence until 3.3.81.
