On Nov.23rd 1958 when in a position S/E of Banks Strait and Melbourne bound was in a head on collision with MV "Warringa" which was Hobart bound. There was thick fog at the time. "Warringa" had radar-"Karoon" did not. Both ships proceeded to Hobart where temporary repairs were carried out--"Karoon" then went to Dry Dock in Melbourne--"Warringa" to Newcastle.
