Description:

Ludwigshafen heading to Antwerp, seen at Westkapelle / Zeeland, Netherlands. Scanned from my slide taken during my childhood summer holiday. Sorry for the poor quality, at that time my analoge cameras did not have any anti-shaking systems, photo taken at a summer evening. No chance at all to get better photos from that ship as general cargo ship before conversion to containership...

Only picture on siteof vessel before conversion. DL

Hi There!
A beautiful ship picture, indeed!
But the most fascinating detail in the picture for me are the people in the foreground. On the left you see a woman in a traditional Dutch dress with matching bonnet and further to the right the typical wide flared trousers of the early 1970s. This juxtaposition of clothing in public must have been a rarity even then.
Thanks for sharing!
Stefan

Hi Stefan, I totally agree!! Of course, the focus of all shipspotting pages is on the ships, but this photo keeps so much details of my childhood, especially the dutch traditional dresses - and the very special trousers :)
Thanks for your comment, have a good time,
Hilmar

Dear Ruslan,, thanks for your kind comment. Yes, this moment is some 40 years ago - this ship and all her sisterships are scrapped. No chance to repeat the shot / no chance for a second childhood :)

What is realy important... it's particular moment / situation / scene when the photo was taken! Even if its quality is not so good, but you know, that next chance to take the photo of better quality will (may be) never appear.
