We can be realistic. We will not see the likes of the Queen Mary, SS United States, Normandy, etc., name your classic liner. The day of the high capacity cruise ship is here and the day of the trans-Atlantic/Pacific ocean liner is now only nostalgia. Whatever we find plying the seas should fill our interest.

If the sun is suffient;y high to be affected by the overhang, the shade would probably welcome. But then at least half of all balconies are likely to be in shade even in the best of weather. Nobody misses out - see: http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=2678719

I'm in no position to say whether is ship is a good or a bad design. There appear to be certain aspects of her external design that are not particularly pleasing and many of her balcony cabins look as though they will be permanently in shade due to the overhang of the decks above. I don't see that as being good design. She may possibly be good design technically but aesthetically (to me) she leaves a lot to be desired.

Not agree, MSC Meraviglia had a good design and she is not ugly

Could be interesting trying to evacuate down ten decks in difficult conditions...

Ugly = more capacity, more capacity = more passengers, more passengers = higher profit. Simple math why these ships more resemble the land-bound hotels, which are also big, blocky and esthetically unattractive.
