Description:

Japanese built BP VLCC at the Finnart oil terminal on Loch Long off the Firth of Clyde taken during the summer of 1975. She had brought a crude cargo which had been discharged and then remained more or less laid up alongside.
Alastair has very kindly supplied this information about her:
The Respect was built for Scalesdrene Ltd. London by Kawasaki Heavy Industries, delivered September 1974 with BP Tanker CO. appointed managers. 277,746 DWT powered by 2 steam turbines double reduction geared to a single shaft. Went straight from completion to layup. 22.12.87 she was laying at Larak Island when she was bombed and set ablaze by Iraqi aircraft. Fire extinguised and she went to Dubai for repair, back in service 04.02.1988.
1990 ownership transferred to BP shipping with Bahamian registry.
1992 Sold to Delos Marine, Greece and re-named DELOS.
