Description:
This derrick barge was first built in 1912 as the tanker RENOWN, and a beautiful description of her, before and after conversion to a barge, accompanies the photo on this site of her as MERCURY. She's shown here moored to the American Locks at Sault Ste. Marine MI on the U. S. side. Although she's generally unrecognizable from the original, do enjoy the gentle camber of her deck, something regular dumb-barges never have.
Former name(s):
- Barge No.3 (Until 1990 Jul 06)
- Mercury (Until 1981 Jan)
- Renown (Until 1957)
- Beaumont Parks (Until 1912 Jul)
