An universal general cargo ship built by the Helsingor Skibsvaerft & Makinbyggeri Shipyard on order of the Polish Foreign Trade Center CENTROMOR for the Polish Ocean Lines (PLO). The ship was launched on July 1, 1960, completed and put into operation on October 30, 1960. In accordance with the shipowner's assumptions, it was designated on the Line to the Ports of the East Coast of South America. A few years later (December 1966) m/s ŻEROMSKI inaugurated the Line to the ports of the West Coast of South America. During this trip (January 1967), Żeromski took part in extinguishing the fire of the SAALE ship, flagged by DDR (East Germany). In February 1967, it was the first ship under the Polish flag to call at Valparaiso (Chile). In May 1969, the ship was involved in a collision with the Danish flag tanker m/t VITTA THERESA. The Danish ship was seriously damaged. In May 1970, Żeromski entered an underwater rock near the Peruvian island of Mazorca. 11 months later, the first Polish ship arrived at Puntarenas (Costa Rica), and at the end of 1971, at Puerto Cortez in Honduras. In October 1975, Żeromski assisted in the rescue of the French yacht POEME, drifting near the Canary Islands. In December 1986, the ship was sold to a Dubai shipowner; Name changed to ROSE VENTURE. In 1987, the name was changed to ZERMOS and the ship was sold for scrap. Scrapping began in February 1988 (Gadani Beach).

POL were specialists in freighter travel in cargo ships like this e.g. join the ship in Rotterdam and see the world but arrival time back could be a bit uncertain!
It gave cash strapped Poland a hard currency income during the difficult times of Communist rule.

Very nice and very similar in many details, to those Ove Skou carge vessels.

Attractive clear lines >> typical ships' architecture of the 60s: streamlined superstructure & funnel, bipod masts,..... (note the very long forecastle for Hold No.1)

: a beautiful ship in its overall & a pleasure to take a look at this photograph!
thanks, Mike, best regards /jadran
