The old steamer HORIZON PACIFIC has now been repainted in the Pasha Line colors, but her days are numbered. Encouraged by successful growth in their business, Pasha has ordered two new ships from the Keppel-AMFELS shipyard in Brownsville TX, which previously had only built drilling rigs and associated industrial vessels. The contract includes an option for two additional vessels.
This ship was originally built as AUSTRAL PIONEER by Bethlehem Steel at their Sparrows Point MD yard, for Farrell Line's Pacific service. She was delivered as a container ship, but the design of her house reflects the development of this class from break-bulk cargo ship conversions.
