WELCOME TO SHIPSPOTTING.COM
Description:
A lightly tenuous link but still appropriate for the day, a Christmas Island arrival at Napier on 23.2.80 was the Glasgow registered Baron Ardrossan with phosphate loaded from that islands mines. Christmas Island was for many years a major supply point for New Zealand and Australia farms with their serious minerals to boost their production. This was the last of her three visits to the port, in 1982 she was sold to Korea and r/n Haeyung Eastern, and broken up in 1986 at the relatively yourng age of 16. Quality a little disappointing, I had stayed in the same spot after snapping later positing Dorit Skou, but should really have moved for better sun.
