Description:

US Navy Arleigh Burke Flight IIA (Improved) Class guided missile destroyer.
She was built in Pascagoula Mississippi and commissioned in 2004. She is around 9200 tons full load, 509 1/2 feet long, with a top speed of over 30 knots.
Missile armament includes two Mk 41 Vertical Launch Systems with a total of 96 cells. These systems can carry SM-2/3/6 Series Standard Surface to Air and Anti Ballistic Missiles, Vertical Launch Anti Submarine Rockets, Tomahawk Land Attack Cruise Missiles, and Enhanced Sea Sparrow Short Range Surface to Air Missiles. Soon the Long Range Anti Ship Missiles will be deployed from these cells as well. She does not currently carry Harpoon Anti Ship Missiles, but I think they could be added if needed.
Gun armament includes one Mk 45 5"/62 caliber Dual Purpose (Anti Air and Anti Surface) Gun, 1 Mk 15 20mm Phalanx Close In Weapon Systems (Space and weight reserved for a second mount if needed), 2 Mk 38 25mm Cannons, and 2-4 12.7mm Machine Guns.
In addition the ship carries two triple 12.75 inch torpedo tube mounts for Mk 46/50/54 anti submarine torpedoes and has a hanger to carry 2 MH-60R/S Sea Hawk Helicopters as well as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.
The ship carries the SPY-1D AEGIS Phased Radar and Combat Control System along with other modern radars, sonars, and electronic systems. The crew for this ship is up to 380 officers and enlisted.
Highlights of her career include patrols in the Med, Indian Ocean, and preventing/thwarting pirate actions against North Korean and Taiwanese merchant ships off Somalia.
She is seen her going west past Fort Monroe/Old Point Comfort Hampton VA towards Norfolk Naval Station after offloading ammunition at Yorktown Naval Weapon Stations.
