Description:

Six bulkers for Sugar Line were built on the Clyde between 1968 and 1974.
SUGAR TRANSPORTER and her sister SUGAR REFINER were 1970s builds coming from the Lithgow yard at Port Glasgow in 1970/ 71.
They visited Glasgow on several occasions, not with sugar but grain or iron ore and this shot of SUGAR TRANSPORTER was taken in 1978 from Erskine Bridge outbound after discharging ore.
As SUNSET she sank in October 1991 on a voyage from Poland to Taiwan.

I served on the Sugar Exporter in early 60's on deck, per chance does anyone know where there might be photograph of her? I can not seem to locate any on the net. Thanks

I sailed on this vessel in 77, must have been a trip to the west Indies for sugar as my discharge book shows London to London (Silvertown.

Great picture !

I remember her as Sunset, and took some photos of her sistership, Sunrise, once when I catch time to find and scan them, they'll appear here.
