One of three ex U.S. Army tugs on their delivery voyage from Hardinxveld, Netherlands, to Nigeria.


Balali - IMO 8984654

1952: Built as "Lundy's Lane LT-1960" by Avondale Marine Ways, West Wego, Louisiana, USA (419)
1953: delivered to the US Army
199x: stationed at Hythe, Southampton (GBR)
1995: rebuilt, re-engined diesel V12cyl GM type EMD 12V-645-E7, 2150bhp
2002 November decommissioned from US Army and sold to "Crane Engineering" at Southampton (GBR)
2004 -14/08: To "Rijnwaal Shipyard" at Hardinxveld (NLD), for repair & onward sale to Nigeria
2005: To "Nigerian Ports Authority" at Lagos (NGA), renamed "BALALI ".

1954: Built as "North Africa LT-2092" by Higgins Inc., New Orleans, Louisiana, USA (11980)
1954: delivered to the US Army
199x: stationed at Hythe, Southampton (GBR)
1995: rebuilt, re-engined diesel V12cyl GM type EMD 12V-645-E7, 2150bhp
2002: To "New Transport Lines" at Southampton (GBR)
2004 -14/08: To "Rijnwaal Shipyard" at Hardinxveld, for repair & onward sale to Nigeria
2005: To "Nigerian Ports Authority" at Lagos (NGA), renamed "OGBOMOSO" ( Confusingly temporarily renamed "Ogbomoso II" while at Hardinxveld, reverted to "Ogbomoso" by time of delivery voyage)
