Good morning Yvon fm downunder

Until a shipowner assigns a name her shipyard no. is used as her identity. The first entry 9.6.03 Shin Kurushima Onishi is the name of the shipbuilder and city, probably when order was placed. Not sure of Toyohashi on 30.6 but this also a Japanese city so maybe amended to builders head office city. Then 5.4.04 Shin Kurushima Onishi 5307 is the shipbuilders yard no. and the date informed to Equasis, too early yet for construction to have begun if vssl only delivered in 2006. 25.4.05 about time shipowner revealed name Firmament Ace intended for vessel and when became known to Equasis.

Construction may have started at this time but I suspect not because of flags. When originally ordered owner intended to fly Panama flag on 9.6.03. But plan changed to Vanuatu 24.4.06 but I think while still under construction as this also date owning company name revealed. Mitsui OSK Line a very organised company and do not often change vessels registration so soon after delivery, so I think she was delivered around 4.9.06 when it was revealed to Equasis her flag would be Bahamas (unusual one for MOL).

Also the dates Equasis post are dates they post info and not necessarily actual date change officially occurred. Believe they can be usually some weeks behind the actual change.

Cheers

Brent
