Description:

The historic 1942-3 Tamise built SENEGAL, owned by Fritz Kopke for Hamburg, is seen passing Portishead inbound for Avonmouth fifty years ago today, on 13th October 1968. She was on voyage from Douala to Amsterdam via Avonmouth.

EX-LABRADOR-66 EX-FALCO-56 EX-ARDEA-54

She was ordered as ARDEA for Plouvier Maritime S.A. of Belgium but launched in November 1942 as TANGER for Oldenburg-Portugiesische Dampfs., then used by the German Navy in 1944 as SPERRBRECHER 155 and completed as ARDEA in March 1947.

Later: 1969 sold to Greece without change of name
Later: 1976: BONANZA
sailed Seville on 5th January 1978 for Algiers but on 12th January was under tow of the METHANE PROGRESS bound for Oran.

She arrived back at Piraeus from Oran on 11th April 1978 but was condemned for breaking and arrived at Perama on 25th October 1978 for that purpose.
