Thanks for your reply Arnoud. I look forward to seeing more of your images from those days.
It's very nice to see them - those days were also my days in the Far East ;-)

Thanks Rick. Yes these were the times, No computer controlled boxes moving by themselves. On your question, it is not possible to find out since these are computer scans from old slides which I made during my time as an Marine Engineer with Royal Nedlloyd. I cannot get a bulb for my old projector, hence, I cannot get back to the original resolution, hence I cannot answer your question. Cheers, Arnoud

An excellent and nostalgic photo Madlenea.
Any suggestions for the grey hulled freighter on the right hand side?
Possibly Scandinavian built and on charter to NYK. I cannot think of another company with the same funnel colour scheme.
Vessel is flying the Japanese courtesy flag from the foremast, and what could be a horizontal tricolor at the stern.
Regards, Rick

These Tugs where at the time the most modern once I have seen anywhere. They where equipped with the a propulsion system that functioned like the Voith Schneider Propeller (VSP)system. It might even have been a VPS propulsion.

Great port and many memories Rose Bar Motomachi having spend a great time in Japan during the 1970ties... wonderful time. To be a sailor was the best profession in that time... long port stay's enough time to visit a country.

What a great harbour that would have been to visit during those times.

Practically no container in sight. Sometimes more than 7 days in a harbor with lots of business going on. Good old time.
