VEB Deutsche Seereederei of Rostock's SAALE, built at Terneuzen in 1958 as OLIVIA WINTHER, which had been purchased by East Germany in 1963, is seen in the Kiel Canal at Brunsbüttel on 30th June 1969 westbound from Wismar to Antwerp during a voyage to the Mediterranean Sea.

Sold in 1981 to Dery Shipping Lines of Beirut, she traded as SOFIA until 1988, then as MAZEN until 1992 when renamed SAMAA III by Dubai based interests.

Renamed ARABIAN EXPRESS in mid 1993, she was beached in a leaky condition on Manora Island, Karachi, on 24 August 1993
