A lot of similar long laid up vessels at Marsa, should be used as diving wrecks instead of occupying wharf space rusting away.Maybe the authorities have similar ends for them.Could be that they are keeping the diving interest by sinking each one from time to time.
Thanks David for confirming the info.

Reported "Tankship Hephaestus (IMO 6519326) which ran onto rocks in Malta is likely to be sunk deliberately to become the islands’ latest wreck attraction. The vessel will be scuttled at a depth of 30 to 40 metres off Qala Point on famed diving island Gozo, at a site chosen because it is clear of seagrass beds. As a boat-dive, the location will be easily accessible from Gozo, Malta or Comino. The scuttling is likely to be next spring, ready for the start of the 2020 diving season. A second smaller vessel, the Patrol Boat 33, was originally earmarked to be scuttled as an artificial reef off Gozo in 2020, but the location of the wreck was now being reconsidered.

1965-built, Togo-flagged, 595 gt Hephaestus is owned by Orbiter Navigation Corp care of manager Volont Maritime SA of Siteia, Greece"
