SHIP SANK DUE TO LACK OF MAINTENANCE

The "Kaptan Hasan Camuz" was reported as being in danger of sinking due to a lack of maintenance in Mersin where the ship was moored since January 2015. The vessel was taken to a safe area and anchored.
On May 31, 2016, the 'Sukran Camuz' caught fire at its ancorage. The fire spread through the superstructure. Local tugs and fire brigades were called to the scene and were able to extinguish the blaze a few hours later. The superstructure sustained severe damage. Reports state the vessel had been at anchor in the area since 2008 and no crew was reported to be on board at the time.
Later it sank at its mooring where it remained with its hull submerged as of Nov 2019.
