The wreck of the Herzegon Cecilie in 1936 off Salcombe, Devon was well publicised and details can be found on various websites. This photo was taken by my father who always recollected the stench of the rotting cargo!

Jmavin, thank you for uploading such a historical photo! However, maybe her name deserves to be written correctly, it was HERZOGIN CECILIE, Herzogin stands for duchess in the German language.
