Hello, Paul, I am happy to add something :)
I knew the solution from manual only and it is very interesting to see it 'in reality'. The lower traverse with hook is visible in another picture from you: http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=3103365

Very nice picture!
We can see that 25t derricks over Hold No.4 are connected with traverse, for parallel work. There was a common cargo runner running through this upper traverse to the common cargo hook. Preparing derricks like this was very time consuming. There was also no special spreader, so handling containers this way was very inefficient. However, Polish Ocean Lines stick for for long tome to such such solutions, following the request of military, who wanted to have easy-to-operate equipment on ships that were all in fact a potential military reserve.
