Description:

The Hakodate shipyard, better known for its handy sized bulk carriers and the unforgettable Mini-L Series of ships, also ventured out on bigger ships and did produce 10 panamax bulkers during the Seventies. This being the last of them. She was delivered as Balder Trader in 1977, under which name she traded for 4 years before becoming the GREEN ELM. In 1984 she was taken over by Greek owners, who renamed her Kamara. They did not keep her for long as in 1988 she was sold to China. She kept on trading until 2010, first as Ya Zhou Hai, and then as Jin Yuan Yang.

BTW Acrop, I think the ship in the picture is sailing under Embiricos ownership, looking at the E in the funnel.

Hi Rick, yes, probably on her way to a repair yard, can't remember the date but she was disposed of in 1987, so she might be heading for the sale drydocking.

Acrop, yes indeed, apparently Ceres loved their ships.

Hakodate must have built about a hundred ships for late George G P Livanos (Ceres Hellenic, Piraeus), from Mini ships to laker bulkers and from panamax bulkers to VLCC.

In an extremely light ballasted condition, I would imagine she is bound for drydocking in the port.
Interesting ship and image, thanks Pieter.
