Lovely photo, Marc. She originally was ms MUNSTERLAND from the Hamburg Amerika Linie fleet, and operated frequently on their Europe - Australia route with her sister ship KULMERLAND and three others of similar appearance, namely BLUMENTHAL, NURNBERG & WOLFSBURG. The only downside was that when these ships came on stream in the early 1960s, we lost those smart looking steam turbine freighters they ran to Australia from the mid-1950s.

Great photo Marc. I can look ships like this all day  So much better than today's nonentities.

Wasn't the Munsterland owned by Bugsier though, not Hapag Lloyd?

Cheers
Phil

Thanks. Phil.

The scan came out pretty well even better than the original slide.

In 1975, Lloyd's listed her as belonging to Hapag-Lloyd.
