Description:

Launched 1 February 1960 at Chester, PA, by the Sun SB&DDCo. as hull no. 617 for Moore-McCormack Lines, Inc., MARAD design C3-S-33a 483'3" x 68' x 31'5;" 9308 gt, 5603 nt; twin General Electric Co. steam turbines geared to one shaft, 12100-shp.

Returned 1977 to the U. S. Maritime Adminitration and placed in the National Ready Defense Fleet; renamed *Pride* T-AK-5018. Retired from the NRDF in 1985 and laid-up presently on the James River.

She is shown on her maiden voyage in July 1960 entering Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA, at daybreak.
