Thanks (though I don't recall that term). "Flume" was the word I was looking for, though when they were fitted to the roros CICERO and CAVALLO because they were too "stiff" back in 1979, I think they were just called "raised ballast tanks":

Damper Tank Stabilizers ...for explanation of how they work see last paragraph of https://www.brighthubengineering.com/marine-engines-machinery/47935-what-are-damper-tank-stabilizers-in-ships/

Although I cannot remember the proper name for these tanks, they are a sort of "de-stabiliser", to reduce stability "stiffness", reducing stresses and consequent cargo damage.

The "Tank" has been fitted in 2018 during an upgrade of the vessel in Qingdao. (upgrade of the capacity by 1500 TEU about)

Ah, a roll reduction tank like how it's on modern supply vessels. Thanks, Jon!

Hi Denis
It was explained to me once, I could be wrong but I seem to recall that it is a tank, that can be filled with water & act as a stabiliser. Hopefully someone with a little more knowledge will give a full explanation
