Description:

The Turkish tanker MED EMRE incoming this morning.
The GT data give 2013 as the date of delivery, and the IMO number more or less corresponds to that although it is still relatively old for a 2013 built ship.
Yet Marine Traffic and Miramar give 2019 as her delivery year. There are two other shots of her on the site, both taken during 2020.
Does anybody know if her outfitting was taking much longer than normal, was initial delivery refused or what

L. Brown,

I put the combo either in a car (ready to point and shoot) or in a bag hanging from my bicycle.

Thank you both ChasB46 & Pieter, that would be too heavy for me travelling away to sea every month or so, I am looking for a good 'point and shoot' camera that can be easily kept safe in my sea bag so I can add photos here when I am at sea.

Loran, somebody already explained everything...except for the most important thing in photography, the glass.. I used my faithful Canon 28-300 IS lens. Heavy but oh so convenient in combination with a heavy camera. Each year I spent many weekends carrying this combo, the whole day for three days (not shooting ships)

That is a very good photo Pieter, what camera do you use?

Thanks David, so it is basically an in-house affair and the completion may have been geared to other priorities as you suggest. Located in Eregli are also the Usmed shipyard and Medyilmaz yard. These were also involved in building these MED tankers, and given the name they are also part of the team.

This series of Med Marine product tankers from Eregli Shipyard (also a Med Marine company) seem to have had an over-long and confusing history. The IMO numbers 9461910/9461922 were probably allocated to Yd 8 and 9 about 2006 when the orders were first recorded. Maybe keels laid about then (but no data on that in Miramar or the BV's public site - though there could be data on SeaWeb) - both now completed as MED EMRE (2019) and MED SERHAT (2020), respectively.

Note that the larger IMO 9461934 (Yd 10) had keel laid 1/2008, launch 5/2012, complete 11/2012.

Then in 2007-8 came Essberger who wanted something similar from Eregli (per Miramar):
Yd 24/9480980 - keel 1/2009, lnch 12/2009, compl 3/2011
Yd 25/9480992 - keel 3/2009, lnch 7/2011, compl 9/2011

It's no doubt somewhat more complicated than this - but they were probably "on spec" orders, just gradually fulfilled in gaps between real 3rd-party orders.

Can somebody shed light on the points raised in the description? (Apologies for commenting, but I am not interested in view numbers, but in answers)
