Description:
The SD14 type FUTURE HOPE is seen docking at Langton Lock, Liverpool, stern first on the ebb tide of 30th January 1987.
Built in 1979 for Egon Oldendorff of Lübeck by Austin & Pickersgill, Sunderland, on 26th January 1993 FUTURE HOPE ran aground near Tomakomai West Breakwater Light. Refloated on 24th May 1993, she was moved to a berth at nearby Tomato before being towed out on 4th July 1993 bound for Shanghai as NORDHOPE. Declared a "Constructive Total Loss", she was sold to Chinese breakers.
However she was repaired and returned to service in 1996 as LIAN NONG but quickly renamed DONG FANG 66, owned by Hainan Brother Maritime Co Ltd.
Renamed JIN CHENG XIN 6 in 2010, her entry was deleted from the Register in 2013
Based upon an AIS position JIN CHENG XIN 6 arrived at Zhangjiagang for demolition on 14th January 2011. Her owners were then Tianjin Fuyuntai Shipping Co.; the same Company also owned the former BRONTE as JIN CHENG XIN 8.
