EFTIHIA had rather unusual history. On posting a photo of the ship thirteen years ago "Cristi" had explained as follows:

"This ship was ordered by Navrom in the 1980s, under the name "Gura Humorului", from Braila Shipyard.
Keel laid: 08.06.1988
Launched: 05.04.1991
After 1991, "Gura Humorului" was laid up at Braila Shipyard (Navrom abandoned the uncompleted hull at this shipyard due to lack of money...). The ship was completed on 21.02.2002 under the name "TK Stockholm".

As yard number 1319 she was one of a large class of similar ships built by Santierul Naval Braila. Purchased in 2001 by the Turkish company Bogazici Denicilik, she was delivered to Reef Maritime under the name TK STOCKHOLM and placed under the Malta flag under Turkish management.

In 2005 she was sold to Greece and renamed EFTIHIA, operated by Tristar Management Ltd of Piraeus who also operated a sistership named ANDROMEDA.

She arrived at Liverpool on 18th August 2007 just four days ahead of a Turkish managed sistership named IMBAT (IMO 9045601), both loading scrap metal for discharge in Nemrut Bay.
