Description:

The veteran steam tug "STYRBJØRN" approaching Bergen. Built in 1910, 162 G t. DIM: 29,42 x 7,13 meters. A steam engine 550 HP gives up to 12 knots. She has Oslo as her home port. Very visible, close to the main cruise terminal.

This old tug does sail for her own steam only a "few Hours" each year. In this case she had just fullfilled a speed competition in the fjords North of Bergen, a rare event.

Reminds me of the Dockyard tugs used by the RDM well into the seventies. The stench of that smoke was terrible, nothing to be romantic about.

The white "smoke" is mostly water vapour.

Ships with scrubbers make more smoke than ships without them just different color and Supposedly less Pollution.
