TOVARISCH
Three-masted barque built in Hamburg in 1933 as Gorch Fock for the German Navy. She sank in 1945 but was raised by the Russians in 1948. After a complete refit she emerged as the sail training ship Tovarisch in 1953. After a short period under the Ukrainian flag during the 1990s she was then laid up at Newcastle-upon-Tyne awaiting repairs before being transported to Germany in 1999. In 2003 she was moved to her original home port of Stralsund where she was renamed Gorch Fock and opened as a museum ship
