WELCOME TO SHIPSPOTTING.COM
Description:
After a couple of years laid-up on the Sitcum Waterway in Tacoma, the LIHUE was recently shifted to Terminal 46 on Seattle's Elliott Bay waterfront. While I would not be surprised if she were soon prepared for the tow to a scrapyard, Terminal 46 is currently not being used by the Port of Seattle, so it may just be a new lay-up location.
If she manages to hang around until April, LIHUE will celebrate the 50th anniversary of her launch. Originally delivered to Pacific Far East Lines as a barge carrier of the US Maritime Commission's C8-S-81b-type, she was converted in 1978-79 to carry containers in the fleet of American President Lines as the PRESIDENT HOOVER. She has been under Matson's ownership since 1996.
