Federal Steam Navigation's 1946 A.Stephen, Glasgow, built DEVON was memorably photographed passing Battery Point, Portishead, outbound from Avonmouth exactly fifty years ago today, on 26th March 1971 during a voyage from Timaru via Bluff.

DEVON subsequently sailed from Swansea on 13th April 1971 for Auckland via Liverpool and finally arrived at Hong Kong on 14th July 1971 for breaking.
