Blue Funnel Line's 1957 Dundee built MENELAUS is seen passing Portishead inbound for Avonmouth exactly fifty years ago today, on 23rd May 1971, during a voyage from Sandakan to Liverpool.
Later: 1972 MANO - 77 OTI (Elder Dempster Lines)
She was sold in 1978 to Thenamaris of Greece, sailing as ELSTAR from Cork on 23rd May bound for Vera Cruz in Mexico but ran aground and briefly anchored in Cobh Roads before proceeding, arriving at her destination on 11th July.
Subsequently calling at Paranagua in Brazil, she arrived at Port de Bouc near Marseille on 6th November 1978, later sailing for Syria. After arriving in Singapore Roads on 23rd January 1979, ELSTAR arrived at Pusan on 27th February 1979 to be broken up.
