Shipping companies are not that forthcoming with certain information which could give advantage to their rivals, and yes she could have anchored off Malta awaiting dockyard space (which had been seen to be available, an afloat job mostly)...so there it stands, only it will be resolved at the company board rooms.
As to your queries David, all resolved ,don't give it another thought.
Stay safe ,keep healthy my friends.

Thanks David, yet she can easily be replaced with another vsl....really don't understand why she moved to Malta and now back to the anchorage off Augusta..

Perhaps a scheduling thing if Palumbo is busy - probably cheaper and more convenient to anchor at Augusta.
Recent update to MSC restart plans in Cruise Industry News, has MSC LIRICA resuming Venice-Split-Dubrovnik-Kotor-Corfu-Venice cruises on 10 April 2022.

Emmanuel I cannot recall where I read it but it obviously made perfect sense to me at the time. Why she has now left Malta after 4 months with nothing being done is strange indeed.....we will wait and see. Hope you are well and taking care, Brett.

When did MSC release that statement Brett? Maybe they made their calculations ,but still no attempt to repair (at Palumbo) has been made.
The ship is calculated worth Euro 250 million., she was lengthened in November 2015, incidentally the fire in the lifeboat was situated in this lengthened part, not that it has any relation to the fire in the lifeboat.
At the moment she is along with MSC OPERA they are anchored off Augusta, Sicily.
Still quite mysterious that after 4 months nothing has been done her eventual fate.

keep safe my friend

Good morning Emmanuel, that is odd because MSC released a statement some time back saying that they were going to repair her at their Palumbo in Malta (MSC/Palumbo JV in Malta see here (https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/palumbo-group-new-joint-venture-announced ) There are quite a few ships in that class so yes let's wait and see...

Hi Brett, the MSC LIRICA left Malta on the 29 July ,in the same situation as seen in the photo, according to marinetraffic bound for Augusta,Sicily.
The fire occurred in March, more than 4 months ago , ample time to resolve insurance litigations and start repairs, but not even damage clearance was taken in hand whilst in Malta.......could it be that her days are numbered?, she was built in 2003 and maybe she was deemed not worth to repair her.
regards my friend.

Thanks Aleksi, 4 months since the accident and not even any clearance of the debris!, is she going to be repaired or that was the final straw that broke the camel's back? next destination ,the scrap yards at Turkey?
regards and keep safe

If I am not mistaken this incident happened whilst the ship was moored at the island of Corfu, but what was the date? can any one provide this info.
