Having spent last weekend a considerable number of hours watching the Le Mans 24 hours I was somewhat surprised to see the chequered flag waving near the pump room of this tanker. She is the 21 year old ex MISC ship Bunga Melati 6, which dropped the prefix Bunga already eight years ago, but traces of the original blue of the funnel can still be spotted. Now that she reached a respectable age, I was wondering whether the flag means that she has/is finished and preparations are underway for her final journey (probably under a new short name...) or is there another meaning for the use of this flag that I am not aware of (fair chance..)
