Length overall: 21.8 m
Completed 1924 sas a sailing barge for A.W. Bryant Ltd., Auckland
Some time later twin engines were installed, but by 1975 was reported as laid up at Auckland.
She was later purchesed as a hulk by Capt. David Skyrme & rebuilt as a sailing vessel, used for charter work and films, including “Nate and Hayes” (known as“Savage Islands” in NZ & UK) in 1982.
Eventually, badly deteriorated, she took on water & partially sand in shallow water off Skryme's home in Opua (See photos http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=347840 & http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=347849)
Moored astern of her is the “Jane Gifford”, another Darroch-built scow; see http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=3335001 The “Owhiti” & “Jane Gifford” were the last of the working scows in the Auckland-Hauraki Gulf area.
